The National Quality Association of Tanzania (NQAT) is seeking a talented Assistant Communication and Outreach Officer to join our team and help us elevate our communication and outreach efforts. If you have a flair for storytelling, expertise in multimedia content creation, and a knack for engaging diverse audiences, we want to hear from you!

Educational Background:

Any relevant formal education in the subject matter i.e. certificate, short course, diploma, or degree in communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience:

  1. Fundamental knowledge in communication, public relations, or outreach roles.
  2. Proven experience in designing posters, videos, photographing, and other multimedia content.

3. Elementary experience in journalism or communication/media relations.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Creative and Innovative Thinking: Generate new ideas and approaches for communication and outreach.
  2. Graphic Design Skills: Proficiency in tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or similar software such as CANVA.
  3. Photography and Video Production Skills: Experience with photography and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro) and creating engaging video content.
  4. Strong Writing and Editing Skills: Create compelling content for various platforms, including press releases, social media, and newsletters.
  5. Social Media Management: Proficiency in managing social media accounts and creating content strategies.
  6. Public Speaking and Presentation Skills: Comfortable speaking in public and presenting to diverse audiences.
  7. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  8. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze communication metrics and adjust strategies accordingly.

Personal Attributes:

  1. Strong Interpersonal Skills: Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, media, and the community.
  2. Attention to Detail: Ensure accuracy and consistency in all communications.
  3. Adaptability: Adapt to changing circumstances and handle unexpected challenges.
  4. Team Player: Work collaboratively with other team members and departments.

Technical Knowledge:

  1. Fundamental Knowledge of Journalism: Understanding of journalistic principles and practices.
  2. Familiarity with Digital Marketing Tools: Knowledge of SEO, email marketing, and content management systems.
  3. Basic Knowledge of Web content management and/or blogging: Understanding of website management or blogging is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation: Design and produce posters, videos, and other promotional materials.
  2. Media Relations: Write press releases, pitch stories to media, and respond to media inquiries.
  3. Social Media Management: Develop and implement social media strategies to increase engagement and reach.
  4. Event Coordination: Plan and execute outreach events, workshops, and community engagement activities.
  5. Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on communication metrics and campaign effectiveness.
